Brian is a Registered Patent Agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and brings over 20 years of experience as an electrical engineer to his intellectual property practice. With a deep technical background and a strong grasp of patent law, Brian is dedicated to helping inventors, startups, and businesses protect and maximize the value of their innovations.

 

Brian is also an inventor himself, holding 12 patents across the United States, China, and Japan. His firsthand experience navigating the patent system gives him unique insight into the challenges and strategies that inventors face when seeking patent protection.

As a Patent Agent, Brian assists clients in a wide range of patent-related matters, including:

  • Patent Drafting & Filing – Preparing and filing utility and design patent applications with the USPTO and internationally.

  • Patent Prosecution – Responding to USPTO office actions and working with examiners to advance patent applications toward issuance.

  • Patent Litigation Support – Assisting attorneys with infringement analysis, claim construction, and invalidity searches.

Brian’s ability to quickly understand complex technologies across various industries—coupled with his legal knowledge—allows him to craft strong, defensible patent applications that stand up to scrutiny. His expertise is particularly valuable in areas such as electronics, telecommunications, semiconductors, and software-related innovations.

Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from Columbia University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from the University of Texas at Austin. Before transitioning into patent law, he spent over two decades as an electrical engineer, working on cutting-edge technologies, circuit design, embedded systems, and signal processing.

His deep understanding of both engineering and intellectual property law makes him a valuable resource for inventors and businesses looking to navigate the patent process efficiently and effectively.
